TIMES JATIM, JAKARTA – Hello Green Nusantara, in collaboration with Bengkulu Mandiri (Perseroda), officially launched a sustainable investment project in Bengkulu Province. The inauguration event took place on Tuesday (19/11/2024) at the Mercure Hotel Ballroom in Bengkulu.
This initiative marks a significant step toward establishing a green economy in the region. The project aims to position Bengkulu as a leading hub for sustainable and eco-friendly development in Indonesia.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Hello Green Nusantara CEO Balazs Nemeth and PT Bengkulu Mandiri CEO Saud El Hujaj. Also present were Bengkulu’s Acting Governor Rosjonsyah Syahili, representatives from Forkopimda, and Ahmad Labib, a member of Commission VI of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI).
The presence of these figures highlights the widespread support for the project. Each speaker expressed optimism about the project’s potential to drive both local and national green economic initiatives.
In his remarks, Bengkulu Mandiri CEO Saud El Hujaj outlined his vision for Bengkulu as a future Green City. “Bengkulu will become a city built on the principles of a green economy. This is our first step toward developing a Special Economic Zone based on green industries," he emphasized.
He also mentioned that the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Industry had endorsed the plan, further bolstering confidence in its success.
Hello Green Nusantara CEO Balazs Nemeth shared the company’s ambitious plans for introducing green technology to Bengkulu.
“We envision a green and beautiful Bengkulu. Our first step will be building a waste-to-energy processing facility. Additionally, we are developing hydrogen-powered buses that we plan to supply not just for Bengkulu but across Indonesia,” he stated.
Nemeth highlighted the company’s commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
Ahmad Labib, representing DPR RI’s Commission VI, praised the initiative as a vital contribution to Indonesia’s goal of achieving its Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. He emphasized the project’s role in setting benchmarks for sustainable practices in Indonesia.
“This project demonstrates how investments in green economy can lead the way for Indonesia’s future. I hope Hello Green and PT Bengkulu Mandiri can inspire similar initiatives nationwide,” Labib remarked.
Acting Governor Rosjonsyah Syahili emphasized the region’s abundant resources as key assets for the project’s success. In his opinion Bengkulu has plenty of raw materials, including waste, which can be transformed into renewable energy.
"Hello Green is taking a groundbreaking step with its hydrogen bus project, and I believe other regions will follow Bengkulu’s lead,” he said.
This green industry project is expected to create significant economic and environmental impacts, from generating employment to reducing carbon emissions. By fostering collaboration between the government and private sector, Bengkulu is poised to become a model for green industrial development. This initiative not only sets a precedent for other regions but also underscores Indonesia’s commitment to a sustainable and innovative future. (d)
